Ben Lawers (Loch Tay)

Ben Lawers (Loud Mountain) 3983ft (1214m)

Starting from the Ben Lawers Visitor Centre (Approximately 1,400ft above sea level) you begin by going through a fenced off Nature Reserve, after about a mile and having just left the Nature Reserve the path splits in two.

The path facing you goes straight up Beinn Ghlas and the one to the left takes you to Ben Lawers. Using the Ben Lawers path it is about 3.5 miles to the top from the Centre.

You then have the choice of returning the way you came or going up Beinn Ghlas and returning that way.

Ben Lawers and back about 7 miles.
Ben Lawers, Beinn Ghlas and back about 6.6 miles.

Because of the proximity of Ben Lawers & Beinn Ghlas there are many permutations to this walk, I suppose it is up to how you feel on the day and the weather.

We decided to go up Beinn Ghlas then up Ben Lawers which is about a 6.6 mile round trip. Sunday the 1st August 2004 the weather started very misty but got very sunny and hot, however it was quite cold and windy at the top of Ben Lawers.
