Ben Vorlich (Mountain of the Bay) Height 3094ft (943m).
Distance 9 miles (14.5km).
There is no real defined paths up Ben Vorlich. You
can reach it from Ardlui which is the shortest route
but by no means the easiest.
I decided to go up Ben Vorlich from Inveruglas, on
January 24th 2005 I went up Coire nan Each to explore
the route unfortunately I found nothing that would help
but I did get a lot of good pictures that day.
A word of warning grass when
frozen can be very dangerous and should be treated with
extreme caution.
On the 26th of March 2005 we went up towards Loch Sloy
from Inveruglas, the weather looked fine and we had
high hopes of going up Ben Vorlich, again the weather
was a problem a descending mist which would have spoiled
my Photographs made me decide not to go up. On the bright
side the final route that we would take was decided.
On 14th of May we parked at the Inveruglas Visitor
Centre We then crossed the road and turned left, the
entrance for the Private road to Loch Sloy is about
half a mile from the Visitor Centre.
About half a mile from the Dam there is a wide ravine
with streams flowing down it, because we had the Dog
with us we followed the streams (that go underground
frequently). Although the intended route is the top
left of the ravine, keep to the right of it until you
reach a large boulder with a stream flowing through
it. There is a well-defined path just beyond the boulder
that will take you to the top of the Mountain.
