We had intended to stay in Thurso and take a day trip
to Orkney but the Car Ferry departure time was 12 PM
on Saturday at that time of year. We therefor decided to
make our way to Gills Bay where the Departure time was 9:30
AM. We traveled up on the Friday
and stayed at the Castle Arms Hotel. This Hotel was formerly
a 19th Century Coaching Inn. Gills Bay is about 4 miles
west of John O' Groats & 3 miles east of the Castle
Arms Hotel on the A836.
