Standing Stones of Stenness

Having reached the Ring of Brodgar from Skara Brae on the B9055 the Standing Stones of Stennessare are about 1 mile further down the same road.
Standing at a maximum height of around 19 feet, the sheer size of the megaliths that make up the Stones of Stenness, make them visible for miles around. Standing on the south east shore of the Loch of Stenness, only four of the ring's original 12 stones remain. These are considerably larger than those found in the Ring of Brodgar.
