Mugdock Country Park

Mugdock Country Park on the outskirts of Milngavie has many interesting features, not many Country Parks have two Castles, a Gallow Hill, a Drowning Pond and a World War 2 Gun Site.

Maps of the Walks and Castles etc. can be purchased from the Visitor Centre. Most of the walks are quite easy, the biggest decent being Mugdock Wood where you will meet up with the West Highland Way.

The Park can be reached by driving, Bus or Walking the West Highland Way from Milngavie. Walks can vary up to 2½ miles (4 km) but can be extended by varying the route. I have not put a time to this as it is very much up to the individual.

Another big advantage of the Park is the walks can be extended out with it's boundaries, two of these walks featured here are the Standing Stones of Dumgoyach and Dumbrock Muir.
More Detailed information about Mugdock Country Park and events can be found on their official Website.

Why not take a virtual walk round the Park, just click on Map of the Park and click on the red spots. Try and find two other hidden spots not marked?
